Andrea Conti preparing to return
Andrea Conti was projected as one of the main stars of the new Milan but his injury at the start of the season changed all the plans. Now he’s preparing to return.
One of AC Milan’s unsolvable problems for now is that of Andrea Conti’s injury. The right back that arrived this summer from the Atalanta would have been a stable starter on that flank but unfortunately his knee cracked too soon.
On 15 September, in a normal training session Conti felt severe pain on his knee. The diagnosis was the worst of all the possibilities: cruciate ligament rupture, immediate surgery and many, too many months of stop from the field. An enormous problem for coach Vincenzo Montella, who in his new 3-5-2 had identified Conti as an ideal defender to cover all the right flank, given that at Bergamo he occupied practically the same role.
Today, Tuttosport gives updates on Conti’s recovery, which initially was expected to stay out for at least 6 months. But the latest medical controls have highlighted important advancement on his time of recovery. It seems that the 23 year old Italian is really heading towards the return very quickly, so much so that he is thinking of returning to training at a good pace already in January, after the Christmas holidays, so that he is ready to play starting from February. However, at Milanello do not want to be overly optimistic: cruciate ligament rupture injuries have always been very delicate and, in order not to risk recurrence, the player needs to go slowly. Conti therefore can go fast, but not too much.
